SPECIAL HIGHLIGHTS
St. Pius X Council
In a typical year, our council accomplishes many goals. For example, accomplishments for the 1999 Fraternal Year included:
- The car raffle sold 900 more tickets than the previous year. Thanks to Dave Buckler.
- The Tootsie Roll drive made over $2,000 more than the previous year.

- The Council By-Laws were updated, revised and passed.
Special thanks to:
Advocate Bob Lynch and wife Jaye
and the Executive Meeting attendees.
- The "Knight Line" was partially funded with a handful of ads. Looking to expand in the coming year.
- Over 1,000 people signed a petition to correct the deficiencies in the traffic light at Suitland Parkway and Forestville Road, which killed Brother Knight Bill McAndrew.
- A voter registration drive was initiated and over 200 people registered to vote
- A clothing drive sponsored by the Grand Knight collected over 150 pounds of clothing.
- Kathleen Hessman Norris, nominated by St. Pius X coucil as Citizen of the Year, was named "Citizen of the Year" at the founder's Day Ceremony of the Maryland State council of the Knights of Columbus. Special thanks to State Deputy John R. Albright.
- The foyer room of the bar was named the "John Robey Rest Area", after he spent the entire knight locked in the foyer.
- The council phone book is currently under construction and will be mailed out shorlty. Thanks to Dave Bradley.
- The "Knight Line" was greatly improved and expanded to better serve the council. Thanks to Peter Weigand.
